My name is Sylvia and I presently live in California, somehow I found myself at approx 350 lbs, a size 4 -5 x, and to this day I cannot tell you why I let my weight get that high. But I also knew (and this was the scariest part) that I would never be able to diet that weight off the normal way, and I had no clue what to do about it, I was desperate. Then in 2001 the miracle came in, a friend casually told me she had recently read about something called the Adjustable Lap Band, so I did

some research and then found a lot of information on line and I noticed that a lot of people were going to Mexico and paying for their own surgery, mainly because most Insurance companies in the USA did not cover it. So knowing my insurance company didn't cover it either, I found some chat sites and talked to at least three nurses that had their surgery done in Mexico (I was very nervous!) I figured they would know about the cleanliness and if
the surgery was being done correctly. They quickly assured me I had nothing to worry about and absolutely nothing to fear.

I cannot tell you how my life has changed since the surgery, and how much more confident I am. I always wore skirts, NEVER pants, not even to the mailbox, but now all I wear is jeans, that was a HUGE milestone, and now by being a Patient facilitator I can reach hundreds of people to tell them how totally worth while this procedure is, and to get them on the road to a better and healthier life. It doesn't get any better than that.
